Janelle Kibler Post 2 GoodMorning Africa Peace Corps Volunteer May 29, 2013

So, here I am in Africa. I feel as though this is how I start every day: GoodMorning Africa edition. Last time I wrote, I had just arrived in Senegal and was in a trance of exhaustion from a red-eye flight to Dakar. I was about to begin a long 9 week training process where I would bounce back and forth between the PC Training Center in Thies to living with a…

Sorry London and I could't make it to Charleston Farms on Saturday. We had already planned to go and see "The Thorn" at the McCallister Field House that started at 1 and I didn't find out until too late. Sorry and we will definately be at the next event!

Hey,
I wanted to share this Fairy Tale re-write with you.
The one thing people who study folktales agree on is that fairy tales like Cinderella appeal to some basic social needs. One of these needs can be seen as a means of acculturating in terms of gender roles. For the assignment I chose to re-write Cinderella to make it less stereotypical. Not my best writing I must admit but, in comparison to the original, a step up.
I make connections between our class and Merrisa Ferrara's Comm 370 Gender and Communication class daily. She is another peace-minded individual who promotes ideals similar to ours in class. I am planning on spreading the word to her and CP1D through an upcoming assignment by interviewing you as a social advocate. I'll keep you posted. Hope the link works:
